Diet for Acne – Vitamin A

It’s not entirely about what the best product for acne is, or the best facial moisturizer, or which of the acne natural treatments work best. A suitable diet for acne prone skin is also important. So, what are the right foods? Answer- the foods that contain the right vitamins of course!
In my last article I mentioned vitamins A, B2 and B3, but let’s take a close look at what vitamins and what they provide as part of medication for acne. Let’s start with …….

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is essential for a strong and well-functioning immune system, but how does that help with the health of your skin?  A strong immune system is important to promote the improvement of your complexion which reduces the build up of acne bacteria, and also helps balance hormone levels in order to regulate sebum production, so it is less likely to affect the skin. The truth is that one of the major benefits of vitamin A is that it will keep your immune system strong and powerful, so that clear, healthy and acne free skin can be maintained.
Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant that rids the system of toxins and takes away free radicals in the skin. It also helps with ageing and reduces the risk of skin cancer. It also helps with fat storage, a healthy metabolism, and helps maintain the nutrients to replenish the skin from inside out.

Vitamin A Food Sources

Liver
Milk
Egg yolk
Carrots
Yellow fruits
Green leafy vegetables.

The role of Vitamin A as part of the medication for acne is significant, however on a cautious note, use sparingly. Vitamin A exfoliates the skin quickly, so over consumption of the Vitamin can have the opposite effect on the skin.
